6 Questions Asked of Each Board Candidate:
1. How do you describe Woodlake to other people?
Well , I am a humble person who lives by the concept of Servant Leader. One who enjoys leading others while helping them achieve their goals and aspiration in live, either business goals or personal development. Helping people had always been a joy in my life since my mother instilled those characteristics in me. I been married for over 20 years to my beautiful wife Betty and we have been living in the community since 2019. We have 5 wonderful children and 8 grandkids. In my spare time, I like to go on long drives with the wife or day trips. I am a avid golfer and been playing since 1992.
2.What do you consider to be the primary functions and responsibilities of the Board of Directors?
I see the role on the board as one to ensure the voices and views of residence of Woodlake are properly represented. To listen to what’s on their mind in order improve the living experience in such a wonderful location of Virginia.
3.What personal characteristics/skills do you possess that you believe will enhance the performance of the Board?
From a experience level, I have over 20 years of Management and Leadership experience working in different industries and employment levels. From an education level, I possess an AAS in Manufacturing Technology, a BS in Applied Science & Technology, a MBA in Strategic Business Management and a Executive MBA with a minor in Corporate Finance.
4. What is your experience, attendance, and/or participation in board and/or committee meetings at Woodlake?
I have not had a privilege to attend a board meeting but once I saw there was an opportunity to serve, I felt it would be a honor to provide support and guidance to our community.
5. What do you feel are the main issues and/or concerns confronting Woodlake over the next 3 to 5 years.
– Housing Valuation – changed in the economic world, we need to ensure the houses in the community remain strong
– Attractiveness – ways to keep Woodlake a place people would like to move to and not from
– Commercialization – how commercial businesses are developing very quickly in the area – affect on land value, traffic, population, etc.
6. Residents have expressed concern over the upkeep and conditions of Woodlake Community common and/or open space as designed under the master plan. As a candidate, do you have a vision, or can you share your thoughts on this topic?
As a board member, we need to listen to their ideas and concerns. Develop potential proposals and present them to the community, including their financial impact to the community to allow the residence understand why or why not their ideas are selected. the most desirable places to live in Virginia.
