He serves as the Richmond lead for Bat Conservation & Rescue of Virginia.
Mr. Summers’ presentation will be in two parts. The first part will be about Bat Conservation & Rescue of Virginia. Through education, research, and rehabilitation, the team works to support Virginia’s native bats, many of which are experiencing critical declines. Bats play an essential role in protecting human health, agriculture, and forest ecosystems.
The second part of Mr. Summers’ presentation will be about the Heart of Piedmont Wildlife Rescue. They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping native wildlife navigate the many challenges they face. Volunteers are trained in wildlife rescue, and the foundation of the organization is rooted in ensuring every animal in need is connected with proper, compassionate care. In addition to rescue and rehabilitation, volunteers actively participate in educational outreach and conservation efforts to protect our natural world and the wildlife that shares it with us.
