Pickleball

Pickleball

A court sport that combines elements of Tennis, Badminton, and Ping Pong. Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle, Washington. Three dads – Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum — whose kids were bored with their usual summertime activities — are credited for creating the game. Pickleball has evolved from original handmade equipment and simple rules into a popular sport throughout the US and Canada. The game is growing internationally as well, with many European and Asian countries adding courts.

• Courts are open to members for use until 10:00 pm each day, except during Sponsored Programs and Programming.
• All Tennis Memberships will include Pickleball.

Residents that wish to play Pickleball can purchase a Tennis Membership or pay for a separate Pickleball Only Membership at $25/month.

Training

Woodlake Racquet Sports maintains a certified pickleball professional on staff to provide training and support to the community -from beginners to advanced.  He is here to serve the membership and lead new players to membership.

• Private/Semi Lessons & Pop Up Clinics by request.

Open Play

The goal is to provide an inviting play opportunity to the membership. Play is rotational with careful attention when the courts are at capacity. When courts are at capacity and players are waiting to join in the expectation is players rotate off the court to minimize the waiting time.

  • Be friendly and inclusive
  • At capacity games will be played to 9, win by 1
  • If more than 4 are waiting, we will use a “paddle stack” protocol
  • Always be aware of folks who are waiting… be sensitive to not taking extra time to socialize, drill, or instruct.
  • Greet unfamiliar folks and introduce to our Pro who will help them secure a 4 visit pass and make them aware of membership options.
